Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges we face, as a state and as a country. Unless measures are taken now to mitigate the impacts of this crisis, the effects to our communities, our economy, and our planet will be devastating.

That’s why today, I released my Climate Agenda, a comprehensive, eight-part plan to fight climate change and protect our communities & economy. And as a strong supporter of Democrats here in Maine, I wanted you to be one of the first to read it.

Here in Maine, we got tired of waiting for Washington to address climate change. As Speaker of the Maine House, I worked with my colleagues to pass some of the most aggressive goals in our state’s history to reduce carbon emissions and increase renewable energy production. It’s time for the federal government to do the same.

Taking bold and immediate action on climate change will be one of my top priorities in the Senate. We must work to reduce carbon emissions, rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, fight back against Trump’s assault on environmental protections, and so much more -- it just can’t wait.
