Before you head out for the weekend, and with the primary election less than two weeks away, I wanted to take just one moment to share with you what service means to me.
When I served with Joint Operations Special Command overseas in Afghanistan, I encountered a moment that changed my life forever. As my team and I made our way through difficult terrain in pursuit of a high-value target, we knew that we were putting our lives on the line with each step we took in enemy territory. My job was to keep them safe.
Sure enough, while I was scanning the area for explosive devices, an IED explosion went off directly beneath me. I came very close to losing my life. It was only through a double-leg amputation, and many hours of surgery and treatment, that I am still here today.
The reason countless men and women like me are willing to put their lives at risk is simple: we love the United States of America. We believe that the rights, liberties, and freedoms that our country was founded upon are so important that they are worth dying for.
And even though on prosthetics I am no longer an asset on the battlefield, I bring that same level of service and commitment with me every day serving in Congress!
Unfortunately, not all feel the same way, and our country is now at risk of great peril. The far-left radical mob is threatening to destroy our way of life - defund the institutions that keep us safe, dismantle the mechanisms that lead to economic prosperity and metaphorically burn to the ground those very same ideals that my brothers in sisters in arms have died defending.
With your support, though, I absolutely will not let that happen! That’s why I’m asking you to pitch in to our conservative campaign today so that I can keep fighting for our country and serving you in Congress!
