Hi friends , it’s been a few months since California voters overwhelmingly passed Prop 50 and established updated congressional districts to counter Trump’s midterm power grab.
I want to take a second to talk about what winning in these new maps looks like, and what you can do to help.
First, let’s talk CA-51:
My district was actually made a bit more competitive in the new maps, by about 4-5 points.
It was stretched to the east, absorbing areas previously in the 48th District (represented currently by Republican Darrell Issa). I’m so excited to welcome voters in areas like Julian and Lakeside and I look forward to being out on the campaign trail getting to know new folks.
And it’s not just my race I’m worried about — over the next seven months or so, I’m going to be reaching out to this team about important races to track and ways to get involved all over the country.
But today, I’m asking my strongest supporters to chip in to my own re-election campaign ahead of our March 31st FEC filing deadline. [[link removed]]
After these filing deadlines, reports are published for anyone and everyone to see — the press, the pundits, Republican candidates and operatives — and what’s inside them can make a big difference in a campaign’s future.
A strong report can discourage Republican challengers and outside special interest spending. A weak one can do the opposite!
Representing CA-51 in Congress is a huge honor — and one I don’t take for granted for a single second. I’ll be out on the campaign trail this year to listen to constituents about their concerns and priorities, and share how I plan to support them if I’m elected to serve a fourth term.
If you can, please consider contributing to my re-election campaign so I can keep up this work and make sure I’m ready to deliver a strong victory in November. [[link removed]]
