Folks,
Americans depend on the U.S. Postal Service for so much – letters, legal documents, government benefits, medication, and other packages.
Despite this, the USPS is being sabotaged. The Trump administration has made it clear from the beginning that they’d like to see the federal Postal Service fail so that we can move to a privatized system. As a result, the USPS has remained drastically underfunded, causing staff shortages, delivery delays, and more.
This is a real problem, because during this pandemic, we’re depending on the USPS more than ever before in our country’s history. That’s especially true in Mississippi, where many of our rural communities lack broadband access. In fact, our democracy in and of itself depends on the Postal Service in this year’s critical election. Countless voters across the country are relying on mail-in ballots to safely vote from home.
Now the Trump administration — which has undercut the Postal Service for years — is falsely claiming that vote-by-mail isn’t safe or reliable — a blatant attempt to suppress the vote.
The Postal Service should not be politicized, folks, and we need it to function properly so that every American voter may safely make their voice heard in November.
We need Congress to step up and save the USPS from all-out destruction: Add your name along mine to my petition demanding the Postal Service be fully funded and protected from this administration’s sabotage now.
An attack on the postal service is an attack on voting rights. Let’s fight back before it’s too late.
