Gov. Shapiro has proposed a state budget that invests $92.5 million in violence intervention and prevention.
On Tuesday, we helped deliver a letter signed by more than 150 gun violence survivors, faith leaders, doctors, and community leaders telling lawmakers in Harrisburg to pass the budget and keep investing in programs proven to save lives.

On Tuesday, Community Violence Intervention (CVI) leaders took the coalition letter — and our shared message — directly to lawmakers.
CVI programs address gun violence like the public health crisis it is. These programs put trained, trusted messengers on the ground in Pennsylvania communities impacted by gun violence, where they can de-escalate conflict, prevent shootings, and help communities thrive.
These programs have helped Pennsylvania cut gun homicides by 46.5% since a peak in 2022. Because of intentional investments in CVI, many Pennsylvania committees are safer than they have been in decades.
➡️➡️ When communities are free from gun violence, more people feel safe to grab dinner at their local restaurant, spend an afternoon at a block party getting to know their neighbors, and let their kids play at the park. We all thrive when we don’t have to live in isolation and fear.
This important funding could end up on the budget room floor if we don’t get loud and make sure everyone involved knows that stopping gun violence is a priority.
Join us by taking 2 minutes to send a message to your representative. Tell them to keep funding programs that keep Pennsylvanians alive and safe. [[link removed]]
TAKE ACTION [[link removed]]
Together, we can make Pennsylvania one of the safest states in the nation. Let’s keep the momentum going.
