Much-needed good news: New hospitalizations in Houston continue to decline. This is a trend that has curved down over the last two weeks.

Let's keep it up and keep doing our part to slow the spread. We know what we need to do, and we can beat COVID together without locking down again.

Earlier this week, I held a virtual town hall with special guest Representative Kevin Brady (R-TX) and hundreds of Houstonians to talk about something at the top of mind for many Texans: the next COVID-19 relief package currently being negotiated in Congress.

My priorities in the upcoming relief package are straightforward: we need to help people who are unemployed get back to work, help reopen our economy, help schools reopen safely, and protect small business owners and our health care heroes from frivolous lawsuits.

Unfortunately, Democrats seem once again more focused on politics than passing solutions. Remember - Speaker Pelosi and Chuck Schumer held up relief for small businesses and middle class Americans for totally unrelated policies. They are doing it again now, which is unacceptable.

Texans and the American people cannot wait any longer for this next round of relief, and Representative Brady and I spoke about the policies we are pushing for in this bill that will hopefully be signed into law soon.

What is the fundamental issue between the United States and China? Primarily, it is a conflict of visions as it pertains to the rights and freedoms of the individual. One of the biggest problems our country faces is that the radical left wing of the Democrat party is sympathetic to the same Chinese vision.

Perhaps that is the reason so few Democrats in Congress want to criticize the Chinese government for their role in the global spread of this pandemic. China lied and tried to cover up their failure to contain the global pandemic, which has cost countless American lives and livelihoods. That is why I have introduced legislation to empower Americans to hold the Chinese government accountable for their actions. You can learn more about my bill here.
