Dear John:

Sometimes the storm is a literal storm, like Superstorm Sandy or Tropical Storm Isaias. Sometimes, the storm is an unprecedented pandemic. Sometimes, the storm is political, like the 2016 election of Donald Trump.

No matter what dark clouds we face, New Yorkers need leaders who put long-term planning over short-term myopia and public good over private greed.

I’m running for NYC Comptroller because, for too long, city leaders have failed to use the resources at their disposal to boldly address our long-running crises.

So we’ve responded together, and you’ve seen my leadership in action. We responded by the thousands to care for vulnerable seniors and restore communities after Superstorm Sandy. Through #GetOrganizedBK, we mobilized resistance to the Trumpist storm. And we’re doing all we can to pull our city through the current nightmare.

Here’s my pledge to you: If you elect me next year, I will use all the tools at my disposal to tackle widening economic inequality, invest in our public infrastructure, call out and uproot systemic racism, and implement a long-term plan to protect NYC from climate destruction.

If that’s the kind of leadership you want for New York City, please chip in $10 or any amount to our campaign today -- all donations from NYC residents up to $250 are matched 8-to-1 →

Your donation doesn’t just help us win in 2021.

You’re also supporting our efforts to help Democrats win up and down the ballot in November -- stay tuned for opportunities to take action together.

But if the past few months have shown us anything, it’s that we need strong leaders at the local level who put people first, plan for crises, and lead with compassion, no matter what is going on in Washington, D.C.

We’re looking to raise another $1,045 before midnight to stay competitive in this race. Can you chip in and keep this grassroots campaign on track to win? [[link removed]]

Thank you so much for your support. Please stay safe, and please wear a mask,

P.S. Momentum for outdoor schools is growing! We had a great organizing meeting on Thursday night. Please sign and share our petition to NYC leaders to allow schools to use outdoor space this fall → [[link removed]]
