AB 1486 faces a critical committee vote this week and AB 1487 can be voted on as early as next week! As we approach the final weeks of the legislative session, it's absolutely crucial that we show our support right now for these two key bills that offer big, bold solutions that would have a huge impact on housing availability for our communities.

Before you head home for the holiday weekend upon us, can you take just a few minutes to voice your support for AB 1486 and AB 1487?

Here's a summary and update on each bill and how you can help let lawmakers know that you're ready for real solutions and progress on affordable housing:

AB 1486: Would strengthen our Surplus Land Act to transform unused public land into a public good, making more public land available for affordable homes and open spaces that benefit our communities across racial and economic lines.

This bill has passed out of the Assembly and is now in the Senate Appropriations Suspense File.

Tell Senator Portantino, Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, that you support public lands for the public good and urge him to support AB 1486! 

AB 1487: Would allow the Bay Area to join together to find Bay Area-specific solutions to our housing affordability needs. New regional funding and programs will strengthen our region with more affordable homes and protections for longtime residents to ensure all Bay Area residents have a place to call home.

This bill is before the Senate and needs your support.

Tell your Senator that you support regional solutions for a strong Bay Area and urge them to support AB 1487!

 

CRITICAL: AB 1486 must move out of Senate Appropriations THIS WEEK in order to stay alive this legislative session!


As Chair of Appropriations, Senator Portantino will play a key role in determining whether AB 1486 makes it to the Senate Floor for a full vote. Take just a few minutes to urge him to support this crucial bill!
