Senator Warnock is the first African American to represent Georgia in the Senate, and the first African American Democrat to be elected in a Southern state. Through a strong campaign and years of service, he defied what was thought to be impossible and defeated a Republican incumbent in a runoff election. He has served Georgia in the US Senate since 2021.
