Flipping seats blue is going to be key to taking back the Senate next year -- but defending the 45 seats already held by Democrats is going to be just as important as we lay our plans to turn the Senate blue.

So today, I want to tell you about New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen -- and why it's so important that we rally around her today.

To start, at least four Republicans have their eyes on her seat. One is the president's former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, whose central campaign strategy was "Let Trump be Trump."

Shaheen's other opponents? One is Andy Martin, a serial litigant and self-proclaimed "king of the birthers," who for years made a hobby of suing the state of Hawaii in pursuit of Barack Obama's birth certificate. Another is Bill O'Brien, who once compared the Affordable Care Act to the Fugitive Slave Act. Then there's also Don Bolduc, a retired military general who would fit right in with the authoritarian culture that's taking root in Washington.

Let me be clear: Shaheen is a veritable antidote to the hard-right, extreme men running against her. As the lone woman on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Shaheen is a powerful force against the dangerous sexist, racist, patriarchal culture that's seeped into our government under President Trump and soured our international relations.

While Senate Republicans bend to the will of Trump day after day -- allowing him to alienate our allies and further sink our middle class with his unpredictable, brash behavior -- Shaheen is fighting to strengthen our international alliances and create a democracy that works for all of us.

We simply can't afford to lose her seat. So, let's come together for Jeanne right now, before Satur‌day's end-of-month fundraising deadline.
