Today is the 55th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, which provided groundbreaking voting protections to communities of color.

The VRA is proof that ordinary people can come together to make extraordinary progress. But we can't let up the pressure or take our eyes off the prize -- the unrelenting attacks on voting rights that continue to this day are evidence that we can never stop fighting.

After the Roberts Court gutted a key provision of the VRA, removing the requirement that certain states get election laws cleared by the Department of Justice before they could go into effect, gerrymandered state legislatures rushed to pass voter suppression measures.

Today, on the 55th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, we're reminded that the fight to protect voting presses on. Our movement cannot wait for change -- we have to make change ourselves. Can you chip in today as our fight continues?

Now, conservatives like Mitch McConnell are holding up critical funding to bolster states' election systems -- funding that would ensure that folks, many of color, can vote safely in the midst of the current public health emergency. It's just another form of attempted voter suppression.

Thank Speaker Pelosi for championing fair elections! Add your name.

McConnell's refusal to pass a bill with funding for basic election protections will make it harder for marginalized communities to make their voices heard this November. It's an assault on our civil rights.

Voter suppression is egregious and undemocratic. And the risk of voters being silenced this year could have even more severe consequences that will impact the next decade, if map manipulators end up in charge of redrawing electoral maps in 2021.

All On The Line has been on the frontlines -- fighting to protect the right to vote, fighting for fundamental fairness in our elections, fighting for an equal voice for all communities. With Election Day less than three months away, we are focused on securing our elections NOW to ensure everyone, including people of color, will have a say in who is in charge of redrawing the maps next year.

Donate now to help fuel this movement!

It's been 55 years since Congress passed the Voting Rights Act -- and seven years since key protections were struck down by the Supreme Court. It's up to us to continue fighting to make sure everyone in this country has a fair chance to make their voices heard.
