Friends,
For many rural families, land represents decades of work and often supports an entire family business. But burdensome taxes and regulations have made it harder to pass farms and small businesses to the next generation. That's why I worked with President Trump to pass the largest tax cuts in American history.
The Working Families Tax Cuts helps families pass farms and businesses to the next generation, lower the cost of financing rural property, and encourage new investment in rural communities. Here’s what it does:
- Makes the doubled Death Tax exemption permanent to help prevent families from having to sell land or equipment just to cover federal taxes.
- Eliminates taxes on rural property loan interest to make loans more affordable.
- Encourages investment in rural communities through Rural Opportunity Zones.

Sincerely,
Scott Fitzgerald Member of Congress

Rep. Fitzgerald Discusses Concerns About Foreign-Controlled Maritime Shipping
Recently, as Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust, I held a hearing entitled, “Pier Pressure: Regulation and Competition in Maritime Shipping.” The hearing examined issues of competition and regulation in maritime shipping. It also explored the current state of competition between ocean carriers and the merits of the Shipping Act antitrust exemption.
Rep. Fitzgerald Votes to Protect Hunters and Anglers and Deport Criminal Illegal Aliens Who Commit Fraud or Harm Working Animals
Today, I issued the following statements in response to the recent passage of three critical pieces of legislation: the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act, the Deporting Fraudsters Act, and the Federal Working Animal Protection Act.
On the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act:
“Hunting is a long-standing Wisconsin tradition, and as an avid hunter myself, I am committed to protecting the outdoor traditions that have long made Wisconsin a destination for hunters and anglers. This bill ensures that the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture cannot prohibit or regulate the use of lead ammunition or tackle on federal lands and waters available for hunting or fishing. It's an important step in preserving the rights of hunters and anglers across Wisconsin.”
On the Deporting Fraudsters Act:
“Committing fraud against American taxpayers should have real consequences. This legislation ensures that illegal aliens who commit fraud can no longer exploit loopholes to stay in the United States or receive immigration benefits. It also gives authorities the tools they need to hold these criminals accountable and protect hardworking Americans.”
On the Federal Working Animal Protection Act:
“Working animals are essential partners in law enforcement, and harming them should not be taken lightly. After seeing what happened to Freddie, a dedicated CBP detector dog injured in the line of duty, it’s clear we need stronger accountability. This bill ensures that aliens who harm working animals can be deported and reinforces our commitment to protecting those who serve on two legs and four.”

Rep. Fitzgerald Talks Potential Updates to Federal Reserve Emergency Lending
Last week, the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing entitled, “Revisiting the Treasury-Fed Accord.” The hearing reviewed the purpose of the Treasury-Fed Accord of 1951 and how this Accord became the standard approach in conducting modern central banking. It also explored the impact of monetizing the debt and fiscal dominance, and if updating the Accord is warranted.
