"There are so many reasons to be active in our political scene in WY. This is the latest one. We also highly recommend that you stop by the county clerks office and verify you are registered to vote too.

They are against this bill and so is the Teton County Democratic Party.

What is the SAVE America Act — and why should Wyoming voters care?

The SAVE America Act has passed the House and is now in the Senate today.

It would create new barriers to voting for eligible Americans — including many in Wyoming — despite existing safeguards already working.


** Why this matters in Wyoming

SAY NO to unnecessary barriers:
* Wyoming voters already show ID and affirm citizenship
* Rural voters face long travel, costs, and delays to access documents
* Women with name changes could be unfairly flagged
* Most Americans don’t have passports readily available
* Voter fraud is already extremely rare
* Federal database errors could wrongly block eligible voters
* Wyoming already has limited voter registration options

This bill doesn’t add security — it adds obstacles.

Greetings fellow Democrats, and Happy Spring!

The 2026 legislative session has ended, and it was full of twists and turns! Many bills were passed, and many did not pass. We have compiled a short list of the highly important ones, according to our values.
The Human Heartbeat Act (HB0126 ([link removed]) ) was signed into law by Governor Gordon. This bill is highly detrimental to a women's right to an abortion, which is considered as medical care by the Wyoming Supreme Court. This highly restrictive law does not allow an abortion beyond 6 weeks, except in the case of a medical emergency. You can read more here ([link removed]) . We will follow challenges to this law and keep you updated.

An Electric Vehicle Bill, HB0145 ([link removed]) , has passed and been signed into law by Governor Gordon. This law removes the triple taxation ([link removed]) that Electric Vehicle drivers were forced to pay. Removing this tax makes things fairer for EV owners.

Our public lands are still under threat, however this year, the legislature passed joint resolution SJ009 ([link removed]) , requesting that "Congress recognize the protection of Wyoming's freedom of access to public lands". While this is a joint resolution, and not a law, it sends an strong and important message to our Senators and Representative in Congress, of how much we value our public lands.

The attacks on our LGBTQ and Transgender community members have not ceased. However, we have had success this session.
HB0010 ([link removed]) , a book banning bill, failed to pass the senate. This bill was clearly a targeted attack on libraries and our children, aiming to create censorship ([link removed]) instead of pursuing education and letting librarians perform their job to the best of their abilities.

Several members of the Executive Committee recently attended an event by the local chapter of the Wyoming ACLU ([link removed]) , where we met Kaitlyn Denzler, the new Executive Director and discussed many pressing issues. This was great fun, with momentum building towards the No Kings Protest March 28th, ([link removed]) and some great info about voting and the midterms.

Annual Potluck
We will be having our annual potluck on April 18th, at the Old Wilson Schoolhouse. Several of our local and state elected officials will be in attendance, as well as an appearance by James Byrd, Democratic Candidate for Wyoming Senate. Bring a friend, a dish to share, and thoughts to discuss!

County Convention
Our County Convention, where we will discuss our platform, how to reinvigorate it, and other issues, will take place on May 2nd, at the County Chambers. More info will be coming soon.

Town and County political news
Housing
Nelson Dr. Housing project: The Nelson Drive housing project saw part of it's funding denied ([link removed]) by the County, mainly due to the high price tag per unit. This does not mean the project is not going to happen, simply that it will be funded in a different manner, and the amount of units may vary slightly.

90 Virginian Lane Housing update: The project will be moving forward. The Town and County have agreed ([link removed]) to fund the $10 million gap to keep the project alive. This is great news that will ultimately best serve our community.

Climate Change
Impact of climate change on our community-The Hill Climb, a much needed boost to our business community at the end of a long winter, and traditionally the penultimate event to end the winter, has been cancelled ([link removed]) , due to a lack of snow. This, and our "low-tide" winter, is a direct result of climate change. This affects all of our various businesses, from lodging to taxi drivers, to restaurants and all other small businesses owners and operators striving to make a living in our beautiful valley. In addition, as we are all aware, there is a larger affect on our ecosystem ([link removed]) as well.
