He joined the Long Island Association for a thoughtful conversation with members of the Long Island delegation, moderated by LIA President Stacey Sikes. The discussion focused on federal policy, affordability, and how Congress can better support Long Island families and small businesses. Andrew also connected with the Hauppauge Industrial Association for a meet and greet with local business leaders. These conversations are an important way to hear directly from the community about what is working and where there is more to be done. Andrew is always focused on working with local leaders to deliver real results for Long Island ANDREW IN THE NEWS House Republicans to hold hearing on DHS shutdown risks amid travel surge "Amid one of the busiest travel seasons and as we face heightened physical and cyber threats from the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and other adversaries, it is deeply troubling that DHS’s core mission continues to be undermined by Democrats’ political games," Rep. Andrew Garbarino, R-N.Y., said in a statement. "Each day this shutdown continues, it jeopardizes the safety of Americans and creates worsening financial hardship for the frontline DHS personnel who work hard every day to protect the homeland." Brown, Inc,. this week to see firsthand the important work being done right here on Long Island. Facilities like this play a key role in testing, engineering, and innovation, supporting both local jobs and national security. Supporting the Down Syndrome Community on Long Island Andrew’s team was proud to attend The Colorful World of Down Syndrome’s Boots and Bling event this weekend in Patchogue. Events like this bring people together in support of an incredible community and help raise awareness and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Andrew is grateful for the work organizations like The Colorful World of Down Syndrome do every day to advocate and create opportunities across Long Island. Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a success and for continuing to build a more inclusive community for all. Casework Highlight: Helping a Constituent with FCC Issues A constituent reached out to Andrew’s office after experiencing significant issues renewing his FCC amateur radio license. Despite multiple attempts, he was unable to access the FCC’s online payment system, with security codes expiring before they could be used, and no alternative payment options available. With a strict deadline approaching, the situation became increasingly urgent. Andrew’s office stepped in to help cut through the red tape and work toward a resolution. Helping constituents navigate federal agencies is one of the most important services our office provides. If you ever need assistance with a federal agency, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Keeping Up with Congress Leading the Conversation on AI and Innovation Andrew was glad to help co-moderate TechNet’s Day on the Hill this week, bringing together leaders to discuss artificial intelligence, emerging technology, and the future of the American workforce. This space is moving quickly, and Andrew is focused on making sure Congress keeps up. That means supporting innovation, strengthening national security, and ensuring the United States remains competitive. Meeting with a Wounded IDF Soldier Andrew was honored to meet with Ben Ladany, a wounded IDF soldier who served in an elite K9 unit. Ben was shot seven times while serving in Gaza, demonstrating extraordinary bravery and resilience in the face of danger. His dog, Jack, a Dutch Shepherd, was killed in the line of duty, a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made not only by service members but by the partners who serve alongside them. Andrew remains committed to standing with those who put everything on the line to defend freedom, and to honoring the courage and sacrifice of heroes like Ben. Meeting with Long Island Postmasters Andrew met with Long Island postmasters and postal supervisors this week, including members of the United Postmasters and the National Association of Postal Supervisors. These conversations are important to understanding how federal policies impact operations on the ground. Postal workers play a critical role in keeping communities connected, and Andrew appreciated hearing directly about the challenges they are facing, from staffing concerns to service reliability. He will continue working to make sure their concerns are heard and that the postal system continues to serve Long Island residents efficiently and effectively. Keeping Long Island Safe and Prepared Andrew partnered with Jim Cantore and The Weather Channel this week to film a series of public service announcements focused on severe weather preparedness across Long Island. With our communities facing everything from coastal storms to extreme weather events, these PSAs are about making sure Long Islanders have the information they need to stay safe and be ready. Andrew was glad to work alongside one of the most trusted voices in weather to help get that message out. Andrew will continue working to ensure Long Island has the resources, infrastructure, and information needed to stay resilient in the face of future storms. Thanks for reading!
