Hey y'all,

You're an important part of this team. And as a stakeholder in the campaign, I wanted to make sure you had a chance to read Preston's memo on the state of the race. It's important to me that you stay up to date on how everything is running, so please, read over his message and then pitch in to help ensure our win in November.

RE: The Path to Victory

As we started July, we were in a tight runoff, and Sen. Cornyn had just spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on ads to slow our momentum.

Luckily we had a strong grassroots team to help us fight back. We overcame Sen. Cornyn's meddling, won the runoff, and had our best day of fundraising of the entire campaign. Not only that, but we raised $1 million in the week immediately after the runoff!

Here are some quick stats from the runoff that will be important to keep in mind for the general election:

1. In a runoff election with record-breaking turnout, MJ won 34 of the 36 majority-Hispanic counties across the state.

2. Texas has gained 2 million new voters since 2016, and is adding ~500 new voting age residents every day. These new voters will play a huge role in 2020, and the majority of them are young people, people of color, and women.

3. Sen. Cornyn hasn't made a good impression on Texans; Public Policy Polling found that the majority of Texans either don't know him or don't like him.

4. MJ only has 34% name recognition in that poll, meaning that there is a lot of upward potential if we can get her name out there.

Now that we're in August, the polls are getting tighter, with the latest putting MJ within one point of winning, and more people are paying attention to this race.

We are working hard to reach undecided voters in all corners of Texas through volunteer texting and phone banking teams, virtual events, and digital and TV ads.

Winning in November is going to take a lot of work and a whole bunch of resources. We're going to need all of our allies to help out -- so please ask everyone you know to donate.

This race is getting hotter every day -- that's what I'm seeing as MJ's Campaign Manager. The key takeaway: We won't win without massive support from our grassroots army.

It's clear we need a real leader for Texas and a Senate that prioritizes our health care. More than ever, we're relying on online fundraising to keep building the campaign we need to win in November, and we greatly appreciate your continued support >> [link removed]

However, we know this is not an easy time for many. If you'd like to pause receiving fundraising emails for the next few weeks, please let us know here ([link removed]). We'll still keep in touch with important information and to ask your thoughts from time to time.
