Hitting wildlife criminals in their pockets

Our latest report, Money Trails – Identifying financial flows linked to wildlife trafficking, made a strong case for using financial investigations and anti-money laundering laws as standard practice when investigating wildlife crime, which generates $7-23 billion in profits every year and is the fourth largest type of crime in the world. In a special podcast, Campaigns Director Julian Newman discusses how tackling money laundering can be a vital weapon in the fight against illegal wildlife trade.

Sounding the alarm for Botswana’s elephants

After more than 350 elephants were found dead in Botswana in a mysterious mass die-off, our Executive Director Mary Rice voiced concern over delays in properly testing samples to find the cause. Her comments were picked up by media around the world.
