Due to COVID-19, our Save The Waves staff in Santa Cruz continues to work remotely but diligently. We're gaining victories, shepherding campaigns, and guiding stewardship plans - all from afar and with the same attentive passion as ever. We want to thank you for your continued support in these hard times as we discover the new normal in the surf conservation world and strive, as always, to protect the places we all love. Through our grassroots coalition, we developed a strategic plan for the 'Salvemos Punta Conejo' campaign to protect the Oaxacan point break from an industrial port project. We won't give up this fight. Learn More.
For the first time in 10 years, Cowell's Beach was not included on Heal The Bay’s annual “Beach Bummer” list - a major victory in the campaign to improve water quality at the famous Santa Cruz surf break. Learn More.
In June, we released a statement on Black Lives Matter and we think it's important to reiterate our stance. Save The Waves is committed to inclusion in our platform, practices and governance, to the empowerment of the POC communities we work in coalition with, and to always seek improvement in this regard.
