By now you’ve probably heard the news: I’ve been named the new Executive Director of United We Dream Action.
I’m humbled, proud, and excited to take up the mantle left by my incredible predecessor, Cristina. For over ten years, she led this organization with her heart and laid the foundation for the change, justice and equity for our people that you and I will build on together in this exciting new chapter.
This is more than just a job for me. I’ve been with United We Dream since 2012, and have held many different positions from field manager to deputy executive director, with stops in policy and advocacy in between.
I’ve been able to bring myself — my whole queer, undocumented, woman of color self — to a place where I can help create a safer and more just community for my people, with my people.
Together, we’ve organized walkouts in high school and college campuses across the country, rallied at the Supreme Court, and shaped critical legislation like DACA and DAPA in defense of immigrants and undocumented people everywhere. We’ve fought, lost, and won together.
And it’s because of this team — our network of over 800,000 members! — and what we’ve done together already that I look ahead to the future with hope and a renewed sense of commitment to the incredible fights ahead of us: ones we’ll wage locally, nationally, in our communities at every level of government until our people know true liberation.
Today I’m asking you to make a contribution in the spirit of this next chapter for our team. Everything we do is fueled in large part by emails just like this one. No contribution is too small and every dollar will go right back into the critical work we have ahead of us — through November and together for years to come.

Over the next few months I’ll be working closely with Cristina and our Transition Committee to make sure I’m caught up on everything. I’ll be asking for your input now and then to ensure that the voice and perspective of this team will be the driving force behind all our future plans. I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together.
