Dear Friend,
On March 2, 2016, Berta Cáceres was killed in her home in Honduras. She was one of the most courageous defenders of Indigenous territory the world has seen.
This Women’s History Month, marking the 10th anniversary of her murder, we honor her. Berta Cáceres [[link removed]] was a beloved Indigenous land and water rights defender and co-founder of our partner Consejo Cívico de Organizaciones Populares e Indígenas de Honduras/Civic Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH). The people who ordered her assassination wanted to stop both a river and a movement, but they couldn’t stop either. Ten years later, her name is still a rallying cry for people all over the world.

The powers behind her murder didn’t know that Berta’s seeds would multiply, that her legacy would resound in all corners of the world, and that her work would continue to be carried out by the Lenca people, the peoples of Honduras, and beyond.
Berta didn’t die; she multiplied!
