Back to School: Don't Check Your Faith at the Door
With school beginning soon, parents need to know their children don’t check their rights at the door the school door. US Department of Education guidelines delineate students’ religious freedom. These guidelines state that students can pray, read their Bibles or other religious materials and talk about their faith at school; can organize prayer groups and religious clubs and announce their meetings; can express their faith in their class work and homework; can go off campus to have religious studies during school hours and can express their faith at a school event.
Too many parents—and educators—think Christian students and teachers in public schools must just put up and shut up about their faith at school. That just isn’t true. Gateways to Better Education at gogateways.org has reliable information about this issue, including how important—and how legal—it is for schools to include religion as an academic asset.

Elimination of Waiting Period After Divorce On the Horizon?
Again this session, some Republican legislators are introducing a bill that will eliminate completely the state’s six-month waiting period after a divorce is finalized before a remarriage. Representative Cindi Duchow (R-Delafield) and Senator Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) are the bill’s authors and are currently seeking co-sponsors for the proposal. The authors argue that “it is not the government’s role to determine when a divorced person should be allowed to re-marry.” Last session the Assembly passed the bill on a voice vote but died in the Senate.
Wisconsin Family Action very much disagrees with the authors of this bill and the bill itself. This waiting period serves a very important purpose, especially when children are involved. It’s because children are so frequently involved in divorces that the state has this protection. Rushing into a marriage after the stress of divorce isn’t good for anyone—especially children. Government shouldn’t be interested in anyone’s love life, but it should care very much about the next generation.
Call your legislator today to voice your opinion on this bill. Find your legislator HERE. (Simply enter your address into the search box in the upper right-hand corner.)

Wisconsin Taxpayers Mandated To Cover Sex-change Treatments under Medicaid
From LifeSiteNews: "A federal judge ruled [last] Friday that Wisconsin cannot exclude so-called gender-reassignment treatments, including both surgery and hormones, from coverage under the Medicaid program, striking down a rule that’s been on the books for decades."
Wisconsin Family Action responds: Surgeries to supposedly change someone’s gender, which is biologically impossible, are no more required health care than is abortion; and taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for them. The judge has yielded to cultural and political pressure, as has the Group Insurance Board. With Governor Evers now appointing people to this board, unfortunately, we don’t see things changing anytime soon. Elections really do have consequences.

The Religion of "Nones"
Roughly one-fifth of Americans and one-third of young Americans are what the Pew Research Center has dubbed “Nones,” people who claim no religious affiliation—and their numbers are growing. Nathaniel Peters, writing for Public Discourse, says the rise in these numbers reflects the emergence of a new faith rather than a loss of faith altogether. As America’s religious norm changes from Christianity to therapeutic deism and spiritualized progressivism, we will find more people challenging longstanding protections of human dignity and religious liberty.
However, while people may reject organized religion, they will practice some type of spirituality because that is a God-given drive. Unfortunately, in America many, if not most, of these self-proclaimed “nones” are practicing humanism, the worship of man. Godly parents who are living out biblical Christianity are the best safeguards children have from being sucked into this false religion.
