NAFCU-sought
bill to improve CU governance policies, protect members introduced
House Financial Services Committee members Tom Emmer, R-Minn., and Ed Perlmutter,
D-Colo., have introduced a NAFCU-sought, bipartisan bill that would improve existing
language in the Federal Credit Union (FCU) Act related to expulsion in order to
protect credit unions, members, and employees.
Crapo
proposes HEALS Act amendment with NAFCU-sought provisions
Senate Banking
Committee Chairman Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, has offered an amendment to the Senate’s
Phase 4 package – the Health; Economic Assistance; Liability Protection; and
Schools (HEALS) Act – which would include additional flexibility allowing the
Treasury Department and Federal Reserve to take risks in emergency lending to
keep the economy stable. In addition, the amendment includes a NAFCU-sought extension
of relief for the NCUA’s Central Liquidity Facility (CLF) and Troubled Debt
Restructurings (TDRs) through the end of 2021.
NCUA
nominee advanced to full Senate
The Senate Banking Committee Wednesday
advanced Kyle Hauptman's nomination to the NCUA Board - by voice vote - to
the full Senate for consideration. Hauptman was nominated by President Donald
Trump in June to replace NCUA Board Member J. Mark McWatters, whose term expired in August 2019.

NAFCU
opposes postal banking, shares support of CDFI, CDRLF funding with Senate leadership
NAFCU's Brad Thaler yesterday wrote to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell,
R-Ky., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to share credit union
priorities regarding a fiscal year 2021 spending package that previously passed the House.
