Executive Branch Tracker Updates: JD Vance’s New Task Force on Fraud, DHS Tries to Access Employer Data, and Court Blocks Termination of HHS Funding
* The Trump administration issued an Executive Order [[link removed]] (EO) establishing a new Task Force to Eliminate Fraud that will be led by Vice President JD Vance. The EO claims that immigrants are illegally receiving benefits and requires HHS, USDA, HUD, DHS and other benefit granting agencies to participate. It also directs each agency to report to the task force within 30 days on transactions and processes most susceptible to fraud and suggested measures to prevent it. ( More in Tracker [[link removed]] )
* Propublica reported that DHS is seeking access to the Federal Parent Locator Service as well as the National Directory of New Hires. These data sources provide name, address, social security number and earnings of ever employed work, and information on every child in the U.S. who is the subject of a state child support case. ( More in Tracker [[link removed]] )
* In better news, a U.S. District Court issued a partial preliminary injunction [[link removed]] that blocks HHS from terminating funding to Illinois, California, Colorado and Minnesota on the basis that HHS violated the Administrative Procedure Act. (More in Tracker [[link removed]] )

The proposed rule would deny housing assistance to eligible individuals – including U.S. citizens and lawfully present immigrants – if someone in their household does not have an eligible immigration status.
