Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, about one in 10 Coloradans are out of work. And across the nation, millions more Americans have lost their jobs and many are still struggling to pay for rent, food, and other critical needs.

That's why I joined my fellow House Democrats in passing the HEROES Act back in May to address these critical issues. Expanding pandemic unemployment benefits through the end of the year, securing funding for vote-by-mail, extending the census deadline to ensure we have accurate data -- these are common-sense solutions the American people deserve.

We are in a crisis -- hardworking families are struggling and they can't afford to wait for more relief. We had a plan and passed it over 80 days ago -- Mitch McConnell and his allies had months to pass our bill. And last week, the additional weekly unemployment benefits provided by the CARES act expired -- leaving those out of work with even less.
