Hi John,
Workers across Los Angeles are getting strike ready! 94% of United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) educators voted recently to authorize a strike next month and we plan to be there in solidarity at the picket lines. LAUSD has over $6 billion in reserves and yet have refused to meet demands for fair pay, smaller class sizes, more social workers, immigrant protections, and other proposals that our schools and communities deserve.
Today at 4PM, rally with thousands of education workers and fellow DSA-LA members in front of City Hall to demand that LAUSD give workers and schools what they deserve.
If you can't make the rally, join us for our chapter meeting taking place this Saturday, March 21 at 2PM to learn about how we're supporting the UTLA strike and how you can get involved. Over 750 working class Angelenos came together at our January meeting to learn more about our electoral strategy and vote on taxing the rich.

At our March meeting this weekend, you'll hear directly from UTLA President-Elect Gloria Martinez about how UTLA has been building power for our educators, students, and communities. Following her keynote will be our Strike Hype labor panel featuring speakers from UTLA, UAW, UHW, SBWU, and WGSU. We will also have a debate regarding opening up the chapter's endorsement timeline to consider making an endorsement in the mayor's race before the primary election.
Make sure to assign your vote to a proxy holder if you can't make the meeting this weekend by filling out this form. I hope to see you at the rally tonight and at our chapter meeting on Saturday!
In solidarity,
Leslie Chang, DSA-LA Co-Chair
