Last night, we made HISTORY, and it wouldn’t have been possible
without you.
Before anything else, I have to thank my team. Thank you for all the time, energy, and resources you’ve poured into this campaign for the last year. Thank you for sticking with me through the highs and the low. Thank you for believing in me from start to finish.
And of course, our grassroots movement was only possible through the best team of volunteers I could have imagined. Together, we knocked almost 25,000 doors across St. Louis; made over 475,000 calls; and showed up at every single every single polling location!
When we say we ran a people-powered campaign, this is what we mean. Each and every supporter was necessary for our movement to gain this victory last night, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank my family and friends for your endless faith, support, and affirmations.
To my father, Errol, who has taught me the meaning of service: I am the woman--future Congresswoman--I am today because of you.
To my beautiful kids, Angel and Zion, who have weathered thick and thin to get here: everything I do is for you and your futures. I love you.
To my sisters, brothers, and cousins--blood and otherwise--who have kept me strong for years: our sacrifices and struggles are real. Now,
finally, we get to see justice.
And finally, to our supporters and endorsers, thank you for standing with me when you didn’t have to. It would have been easy to stand on the sidelines, but you put yourself out there for me, and I won’t ever forget it.
You all worked hard for me, and now I promise to put in 2 years of hard work for you.
Yesterday we made a choice. We decided that it’s time for real transformative change, rather than incremental change we can’t actually feel. It’s time for leadership that works for US! This. Is. OUR. Time!
This moment is bigger than this election. There is work to be done, and I’m ready to start today.
