It’s time to drive our message home.

Moms Demand Action

"Am I mad? Yes. Will I cry? Absolutely. But will I stop? No."

- Everytown Survivor Network member Brenda Moss at Gun Sense University 2019

On August 2nd, the U.S. Senate began its summer recess.

In less than two weeks, it will be back in session.

DEMAND ACTION NOW

John – This month has been filled with pain, anger, rage, and loss. But out of those feelings has come strength. And from that strength, the resolve to act. Just hours after the shooting in El Paso on August 3rd, Everytown Survivor Network member Brenda Moss inspired us to turn our rage into action: "We don't give up - when it gets hard, we fight!"

We've brought that spirit to everything we've done this month to honor the victims of gun violence and demand action from Congress. On August 10th, we held our first ever Presidential Gun Sense Forum in Des Moines, Iowa with 16 of the 2020 Democratic candidates. A week later, we mobilized in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. for our Recess Rallies, demanding that our U.S. Senators listen to the overwhelming majority of people in the United States and pass background checks on all gun sales and a strong Red Flag law. We've made tens of thousands of calls to the in-state offices of our Senators to keep up the pressure. And on Tuesday, we delivered a letter signed by more than 1,200 survivors of gun violence to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's office, urging him to hold votes on gun safety legislation.

We fight hard, and we always keep going. You can join our fight by demanding action from your Senators today.

The Senate will return from its summer recess in less than two weeks. And as we've seen, Senator McConnell would rather stick to NRA talking points – blaming violent video games and mental illness – than focus on proven solutions that address the real problem: easy access to guns for people who shouldn't have them.

We've taken action to honor the lives of those shot and killed in El Paso and Dayton, and to honor the victims of daily gun violence, suicide, and hate crimes. In the wake of tragedies, we have fought for change, and turned our righteous anger into action. We are on the right side of history, and we are winning.

The Senate may still be on recess, but we're not even close to stopping. It's time to drive that message home. Contact your Senators today and demand action.

John, thank you for being a part of our movement. We couldn't do this without you.

Sincerely,

Lindsay Clarida
