Over the past five months, COVID-19 has publicly exposed what nurses have
known for a long time: that money and profit — not the well-being of
patients, health care workers, or public health — come first in our
nation's health care industry.

We have been first hand witnesses during this crisis. Today, registered
nurses at more than 200 facilities in at least 16 states and the District
of Columbia stand together to demand immediate action from our elected
leaders, our government, and our employers to save lives. The nation's
largest hospital chains, such as HCA Healthcare, are profiting off
COVID-19 through billions in government funds while failing to protect
nurses' and patients' health.

From the hospital floor to the streets outside, we say in one voice: now
is the time to re-envision a world based on nurses' values of caring,
compassion, and community.

The United States has the highest number of infections and deaths in the
world, with more than 4.8 million cases and more than 150,000 deaths. More
than 169 nurses in this country are dead, and millions of folks are
jobless, homeless, hungry, and without health care.

Your immediate action is critical so that HCA and the entire health care
industry hear nurses' demands and provide personal protective equipment
(PPE), safe staffing, and proper infection control.
