Connecticut is attempting to remove one of the last bipartisan checks on government power through HB 5554. It is an action to never create any harmony between Republicans and Democrats and remove any guardrails and find common ground between the parties.
This bill:
Ends equal bipartisan oversight
Shifts to majority-party control with no guardrails
Weakens oversight of regulations—including healthcare and vaccine policy
Removes a critical safeguard against unelected agency power
THIS IS YOUR MOMENT TO ACT - The below is mostly thanks to CTRAMM [ [link removed] ]for streamlining this process

SIMPLE TESTIMONY TEMPLATE (USE THIS) -
I oppose HB5554. I am from [town].
The Legislative Regulation Review Committee has long served as a bipartisan checkpoint with equal representation from both parties. This ensures fairness, accountability, and transparency.
Changing this to proportional control removes that balance and gives one party unchecked authority over regulations that impact our daily lives.
[Add 1–2 sentences: why this matters to you—healthcare, business, parental rights, etc.]
I urge you to preserve this bipartisan safeguard and VOTE NO on HB5554.
Name / Town
WHY THIS MATTERS
This committee reviews regulations on: Healthcare, Vaccines, Business rules, Energy and daily life policies
HB 5554 turns it from a balanced checkpoint → into a majority-controlled rubber stamp.
Enough is Enough - If you do nothing, this passes quietly.
If enough people submit testimony today—it becomes a political issue.
Submit before 3 PM
