John — Happy Women’s History Month!
Each March, we honor the trailblazers, organizers, and everyday heroes who fought to ensure that women have a voice in our democracy and a seat at the table. Here in Wisconsin, we have a uniquely proud legacy when it comes to the fight for women’s equality.
For example, did you know that in 1919, Wisconsin became the very first state in the nation to ratify the 19th Amendment and guarantee women the right to vote?

That spirit of progress is exactly what propelled Congresswoman Gwen Moore to break barriers of her own. When Gwen was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate, she made history as the first African-American woman ever to hold that office. She later became the first African-American to represent Wisconsin in Congress.
Gwen knows firsthand that history isn’t just something we read about in textbooks — it is something we shape every single day through our actions. That’s why as we reflect on the progress we've made, we must also remember that the fight is far from over.
From the ongoing attacks on reproductive freedom by MAGA Republicans to the fight for equal pay and affordable childcare, the rights of women are on the line in 2026. We cannot afford to take a single step backward. We owe it to the women who fought for our rights to fiercely defend them today.
