Last night, Cori Bush and the movement behind her shocked the political establishment. In January, she is going to Congress to represent Missouri’s 1st Congressional District.

By this point you probably know about her: she’s a Black Lives Matter activist who was in the streets in Ferguson all the way back in 2014. She ran her 2020 campaign on Defunding the Police, the Green New Deal, and Medicare for All, and was up against a 50-year political dynasty who we were told was untouchable.

But movements had her back and she won. Now it’s time for us to have the backs of two more Green New Deal champions -- Congresswoman Ilhan Omar in Minnesota and Alex Morse in Massachusetts -- who have tough elections in the coming weeks.

Last night, we saw that when we run these kinds of campaigns, we win. Sunrise St. Louis and other local movements have been campaigning for Cori since last December and in the last month, Sunrisers around the country called over 150,000 voters in a race that was decided by just 4611 votes. In Michigan, Rashida Tlaib faced attacks from the Democratic establishment and SuperPACs but built deep support in her community and won by a landslide.
