Governor Abbott and the Texas Education Agency have issued their guidelines: local health authorities can close schools once there’s a COVID-19 outbreak, but they may not do so in advance, even if cases are rising in their area.

I’m concerned that the governor isn’t taking the recent spike in cases seriously - and I want to be sure we are listening to the concerns of Texas parents, teachers, and school workers.
