John --

You’ve probably seen the news that the Apple Wildfire is currently raging in parts of San Bernardino and Riverside County. Thousands of families in and near California's 8th district have been evacuated. Tragically, hundreds may not have a home to return to once this fire is over.

I want to express my gratitude to the first responders and firefighters working so hard to contain these fires and keep residents safe — especially during this already trying time.

The Apple Fire is still ongoing, and we don’t yet know the extent of the damage, but it’s not too early to think about what we can do to help those who have been affected.

That’s why today I am asking you to make a donation to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund. All contributions will support intermediate and long-term recovery efforts from California wildfires -- including the Apple Fire.

Sadly, we are no stranger to wildfires here in California. Climate change has made these natural disasters a fact of life for our communities.

But now is one of those times we need to come together and help each other. 2020 has been a year of crises that have called upon us to help our neighbors and today, I hope you'll do so once again:

Let’s all chip in what we can. Together, we can help make a difference in the lives of those who have been impacted by this wildfire.

Thanks so much,

Chris
