This Sunday, four terrorists planted bombs along Israel’s border with Syria.
Hours earlier, Israelis at a drive-in movie theater in southern Israel found themselves running into bomb shelters when Iranian-backed terrorists in Gaza launched a rocket toward Israel.
Thankfully, the IDF stopped the terrorists in the north…Iron Dome intercepted the rocket in the south…and there were no Israeli casualties.
But these incidents are yet another reminder of the serious dangers Israelis face every day, and why your work with AIPAC remains vital.
Ensuring Israel has the ability to defend itself, by itself, is at the core of our work together.
Iron Dome is a great example.
This life-saving missile defense shield—which intercepted the rocket on Sunday and more than 900 others this past year—would not be possible without Congress’ support for the millions of dollars in critical security assistance to Israel that AIPAC lobbies for year over year.
But we can never take this support for granted.
We must continue our work to ensure bipartisan majorities in Congress understand the threats our ally faces and the critical importance of U.S. security assistance to Israel.
