Have a cup of Equali-TEA with us!

Do you have a favorite type of tea? Summertime is perfect for sipping tall glasses of sweet iced tea, but here at EV, we are brewing up a big pot of equali-tea to prepare for the 2021 General Assembly session. We've been busy this summer connecting with community partners here in Virginia and across the country to discuss the pressing issues impacting LGBTQ people, and now we're tea-lighted to bring the conversation to you. 

This week we are launching our summer community engagement series, "Legislative Equali-TEA!" In this three-part series, we will ask you to: Take a quick, 3-minute community survey, Engage in a virtual town hall, and Advance LGBTQ rights by helping us create a 2021 action plan. We hope that you'll participate in this series so that you can share with us your experiences as an LGBTQ Virginian or ally, and make sure we're advocating for the issues that matter the most to you. 

We're brewing a pot of equali-tea big enough for all of us, and we've already poured a cup for you. We hope that you'll take your first sip of TEA and take our community survey by Wednesday, August 19, 2020. This survey will only take three minutes and your responses will be anonymous. We especially encourage LGBTQ Black, Indigenous, and people of color to complete the survey. Encourage your friends to take the survey, too, and be sure to register for the events below!

Virtual Town Hall:
Wednesday, August 26th at 6:00PM

Join us for the "E" in TEA and engage in our virtual town hall on August 26th. We've come such a long way this past year, but there's a lot more to be done until there's full equality for all LGBTQ Virginians. We'll share the results from the community survey and discuss the experiences LGBTQ Virginians are currently facing. Plus, we'll talk about the issues you'd like to see addressed legislatively in 2021.

Since we're not able to connect in-person, this virtual town hall will be a fun way to reconnect with some familiar faces, while reflecting on the results of the community survey.

2021 Action Plan:

Finally, we will share a last sip of TEA together on September 2nd. In order to successfully advance LGBTQ rights at the General Assembly next year, we need to create an action plan. That is where you come in! What LGBTQ issues are you most passionate about? How do you want to get involved? 

Join us for this interactive session where we'll break out into groups to discuss specific topics to tackle legislatively. Together, we'll create an action plan and lay the ground work for another year of success at the General Assembly!
