Every candidate, partisan organization, campaign, or supporterbenefitsfrom the ability to (1) recruit and sustain volunteers , and (2) reach voters effectively. Without sufficient volunteers, even the best voter strategy falls short. Likewise, voter contact efforts require precise targeting and effective messaging to succeed.

At the 2026 Libertarian National Convention in Grand Rapids, MI , the Leadership Institute will be holding Volunteer Army Builder and Voter Contact Workshop programs to help you master the balance needed to bring your organizing and messaging to its full potential.

These programs address these twin needs: Volunteer Army Builder develops participants’ ability to grow and sustain grassroots capacity, while Voter Contact Workshop equips participants to translate that volunteer power intoreal electoralimpact. Together, they create a self-reinforcing cycle of recruitment, activation, and voter persuasion.

The price of each track includes breakfast and lunch, respectively. Sessions will last around90 minuteseach and will not conflict with convention business.

Volunteer Army Builder: Breakfast Track (Saturday & Sunday)

stances for petitions, recruitment, donor prospecting, and more.

Build coalitions and lists (contacts, donors, supporters, petition signatures, etc.)

Activate contacts to stay engaged.

Connect new members via social media and in person.

Nurture long-term relationships.

Use the Problems into Policies model to craft compelling,feasible, and attractive policy.

Voter Contact Workshop: Lunch Track (Saturday & Sunday)
* Identify specific voters and precincts.

Shape messaging by party affiliation and engagement levels.
*
Apply effective, non-confrontational body language and conversation openers.
*
Write dynamic voter contact scripts.
*
Conduct messaging exercises (ex: Leesburg Grid).
*
Evaluate canvassing, phonebanking , and other methods for effectiveness.
*
Calculate required votes and volunteer capacity in a precinct
