Sara Jacobs - Democrat, U.S. Congress

Here’s a real question for you: What do you even call a misogynistic primadonna who’s unbelievably reckless with taxpayer dollars, not to mention our actual national security and the safety of our troops?

There’s no word that does this man justice, so I guess we’ll just call him Pete Hegseth.

Yes, I’m back to talk about our Secretary of Defense, and how he’s running the department like a personal vanity project.

Right now, the U.S. is spending $1 billion a day on an illegal war in Iran. $1 billion a day!

And while you can bet that Donald Trump and Republicans are going to ask Congress for even more funding any day now, new reporting shows Hegseth’s Pentagon has been on a staggering spending spree with taxpayer dollars totally unrelated to this war.

In September alone, Hegseth spent $93 billion (yes, BILLION) on ridiculous, frivolous luxuries:

  • $98,329 on a grand piano for the Air Force chief of staff’s home
  • $9 million on king crab and lobster tail
  • $15.1 million on ribeye steak
  • $225 million on furniture, including $12,000 fruit basket stands and more than $60,000 worth of designer recliners

This particular spending happened just days before our government shut down for the longest time in U.S. history, and millions of Americans lost their SNAP benefits, went without pay, and worried about how they were going to feed their families.

It’s sick.

And instead of focusing on the reckless war in Iran or getting his budget in order, Pete Hegseth is so vain that his latest move is to ban the photographers who took ‘unflattering’ photos of him during his recent briefings.

By all accounts, he’s just as worried about the lighting in the press he’s getting as our national security or service members’ safety. (Don’t get me started on the personal makeup studio he wanted at the Pentagon.)

Donald Trump spent years promising his supporters he would “drain the swamp.” But the truth is, he filled the government with some of the most corrupt and unserious people imaginable, and Pete Hegseth might be the worst and most dangerous example.

Our troops deserve serious, thoughtful leadership, and American taxpayers deserve accountability for where their hard-earned money is going. We saw with Kristi Noem’s firing just last week that public outrage can impact this administration’s personnel decisions — so let’s get loud about this.

If you agree Pete Hegseth is unfit to serve as Secretary of Defense, add your name to my petition right now demanding his resignation.

ADD YOUR NAME

The longer Hegseth stays in power, the more damage he does — to our military, to our nation’s credibility, and to the American people’s trust.

Thank you for speaking out with me.
