Fellow Conservative,

For the last few weeks, I have been working on major legislation to reform our criminal justice system.

Democrats in the Senate refused to even begin debate on this legislation. They wouldn’t even allow amendments to my bill to be considered.

It was Washington style partisanship at its worst. Refusing to work across the aisle because Democrats couldn’t allow Republicans to succeed on this issue so close to the November election.

I didn’t come to Washington to just sit around and score political points; I came to get things done on behalf of the American people.

While it is disappointing that Democrats refused to work with Republicans, we cannot get discouraged and give up the fight.

Over the next few months, the partisan rhetoric from Democrats will continue to become sharper, and we must ensure we have the resources to get our message out and fight back.

While Senate Democrats are solely focused on defeating President Trump and winning control of the Senate, I will continue to look towards the future and deliver conservative results for the American people.
