Since COVID-19 hit our city, an estimated 2 million New Yorkers have become food insecure.

Andrew Gounardes: Democrat For New York

Friend,

We are one of the richest cities in the world, and yet millions of New Yorkers are grappling with food insecurity. Even before the pandemic, an estimated 1 in 4 children were food insecure, and about one million New Yorkers were dealing with food insecurity; now, that number is estimated to have doubled.

That’s why when the pandemic began, we partnered with local non-profits and community organizations to distribute 35,000+ free meals to those in need during the pandemic. Through our partnership with World Central Kitchen and IRC, we helped thousands of families get the meals and groceries they needed through the pandemic. Thanks to generous donors like YOU, we raised thousands of dollars to feed our neighbors - with the campaign matching donations to make your dollars go farther!

It isn't enough to just react though -- we need a plan in place for food insecurity in the future. That's why we are rolling out our food insecurity platform.

I want to hear from you: Let me know how you think we should fight food insecurity in New York City. Reply to this email with your thoughts to make the platform better.

And if you agree that the people of New York deserve better, that no child should go hungry in New York, and you want a State Senator who will fight to make that happen, volunteer for a phone shift today.

There's too much at stake in this election not to give it our all. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and joining you on the phones!

In Service,

Andrew
