Jack,
It's that time again — Two-Dollar Tuesday! Yes it's a fun slogan, yes it's an easy, accessible way to support the campaign. But it's also a statement about who this campaign belongs to — not billionaires, not corporate PACs. You.
Yesterday, The New York Times reported that just 300 billionaire families made up 19% of all federal campaign donations in 2024. Three hundred families out of a country of 330 million people? That's an oligarchy, folks.
Each one gave an average of $10 million — the equivalent of 100,000 regular donors. And that's just what we can see — it doesn't count the dark money they funnel through groups that never have to disclose a dime.
Just twenty years ago, billionaires accounted for 0.3% of campaign spending. Now it's 19%. That's a takeover of our democracy by the elite.
For every dollar they gave to Democrats, five went to Republicans. And right here in Wisconsin, they turned last year's Supreme Court race into the most expensive judicial election in American history.
The governor's race is next. They're coming. And that money will be used against us.
If everyone reading this chipped in $2 right now, the impact would be huge.
Your donation gets us on the road to meet voters. It lets us hire dedicated campaign staffers who believe in our mission. It helps us print yard signs and posters. Every dollar you give goes toward building the kind of campaign that can fight for universal childcare, paid leave, affordable healthcare, and an economy that works for everyone, not just the people who can write six-figure checks.
Here’s a cute dog as a token of my gratitude.
With gratitude,
Fran
P.S. The best way to support the campaign is a recurring monthly donation. Even $2 a month helps!
