Dear John,
30,000,000 Americans are facing a financial cliff now that the extra $600 a week in unemployment benefits have expired. Tens of millions won’t be able to make rent or mortgage payments. More will go hungry, including children.
Why are millions of Americans now on the verge of total financial disaster?
You can thank Mitch McConnell and his GOP lackeys in the Senate.
They dragged their feet for months, claiming there was “no urgency” to pass another coronavirus relief bill even as the virus surged and the economy cratered. They argued that we shouldn’t pass more legislation because of the growing national debt.
They even skipped town for a three day weekend while letting extra unemployment benefits lapse and eviction protections expire.
But they had plenty of urgency when corporations were asking for a $500 billion bailout in March. And they didn’t seem to care about the national debt when they rammed through a $1.9 trillion tax cut for corporations and the super-rich in 2017.
Our latest video exposes the shameful priorities of Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans during the coronavirus crisis. [[link removed]]

Even in the midst of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans only care about their wealthy donors and corporate backers.
If they had an ounce of concern for the nation, their priority would be to shield Americans from the ravages of COVID and American democracy from the ravages of Trump.
But we know where their priorities lie.
Fortunately, the inept and overwhelmingly corrupt reign of Trump, McConnell, and Senate Republicans will come to an end next January if enough Americans vote in November.
Together, let’s hold them accountable and fight for a government that represents the people, not corporations.
