John, enhanced unemployment benefits have expired -- just as Americans around the country are due to pay rent.
In Delaware, nearly half of renters spend more than 30% of their household income on housing costs. With millions filing for unemployment, the expiration of enhanced benefits could mean disaster for Americans all over.
It didn’t have to be this way.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republicans had more than 10 weeks to provide Americans with urgent relief aid. Instead, they chose to do nothing after the House passed a relief package in May.
It’s their job to do something. But if McConnell and Senate Republicans aren’t willing to do their jobs, then we’ll just have to replace them this November. If you can, chip in now to support Democrats on the ballot this November.
Thank you,
TC

Subject: After weeks of waiting, this is what Republicans came up with:
John -- after waiting over 10 weeks for Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans to take action and provide Americans with much-needed relief in the wake of our country’s ongoing health crisis, they have come up woefully short.
The Republicans’ plan:
-
Drastically reduces unemployment benefits from $600 to only $200 per week
-
Does not include rental assistance, hazard pay for frontline workers, critical funding for state and local governments, or support for communities of color hit the hardest by the pandemic
-
Promises immunity for businesses, protecting them from any liability for unsafe working conditions
McConnell’s priorities are clear. He’s choosing corporations over Americans.
If McConnell and Republicans aren’t willing to stand up and do what’s right -- especially during an unprecedented pandemic -- we need to replace them. If you can, will you chip in before the end-of-month deadline to help us fuel our fight to elect Democrats and take back the Senate?

Americans’ lives and livelihoods are on the line.
Enhanced unemployment benefits are about to come to an end, and the moratorium on evictions has expired.
McConnell and Republicans have failed to respond with the urgency this moment demands, so we need to take action to elect leaders who will.
If you can, make a contribution before the end-of-month deadline this Friday.
Thank you,
TC
