Friends, Too many of our hospitals are struggling to stay open at a time when we need them the most. And after years of neglect from the state and federal government, rural hospitals are vanishing. Twenty-six hospitals have closed in Texas since 2010, the most of any state. All of these hospitals were in rural communities, who rely on them for healthcare, jobs, and infrastructure. Here’s the worst part -- four hospitals in our district closed under Louie Gohmert’s watch. AND, he turned his back on the H.R.2 bill that provides millions of relief dollars for our hospitals and healthcare system. If Louie had any common sense left -- he would have taken initiative after contracting the coronavirus. But he couldn’t care less. Louie’s premium healthcare plan from Congress has him covered while millions suffer from his failures. The last thing we need during the COVID-19 crisis is Louie’s negligence killing our hospitals. I’m running for Congress because I believe we need a Congressman who will bring a good dose of East Texas values to the halls of Congress. When I’m elected to Congress, I’ll fight for enhanced funding for rural healthcare, massive student loan reform, and economic policies that make sense for East Texas. - Hank |
