WHAT'S HAPPENING
GOVERNOR SINGLES OUT REPUBLICANS IN PRESS CONFERENCE

During Gov. Lujan Grisham's recent press conference, she publicly called out Republicans for continuing to campaign in person. She admonished Republicans, saying this violated her Public Health Order. Currently, Republicans have the strongest ground game in our state's history and are working hard to win Presidential, Congressional, legislative, and judicial seats across the state this November—all this has the governor and Democrats running scared. The governor is attempting to infringe on our right to free speech and our right to campaign. Republicans have been following her Order, wearing masks, and campaigning in groups less than five as well as practicing social distancing. Our momentum is growing stronger everyday in this election and the governor is trying to shut us down.

GOVERNOR EXTENDS PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER THROUGH AUGUST

Last Thursday, Gov. Lujan Grisham announced that she would extend her unjust Public Health Order through the end of August—meaning that restaurants will continue to prohibit indoor seating. The economic fallout of the pandemic will also continue to harm New Mexican families and communities as other businesses like movie theaters, bars, and entertainment venues must remain closed. The governor has refused to stand up for small businesses during this pandemic and with no end in sight, the economic future of many businesses remains unclear. Her updated Order also affects schools which will remain closed until after Labor Day. Many schools across the state are struggling to deliver an adequate education online, especially in lower-income districts across New Mexico. This will lead to inequitable treatment of low-income students and will drive down the quality of education in our state.

REP. TORRES SMALL CANNOT HIDE RADICAL RECORD BEHIND HER MODERATE APPEARANCE

An Op-Ed from Alamogordo News highlights why Xochitl Torres Small’s radical record cannot hide behind her ‘moderate’ façade. From voting to impeach President Trump to supporting anti-2nd Amendment legislation, it's clear that Torres Small is trying to hide her record from the voters in her district. She is campaigning as a moderate, but her record and actions in Congress during the past two years don't reflect this. We must work hard to take back the 2nd Congressional District this November and elect someone who will restore conservative values and put the people first in Southern New Mexico.

Gov. Lujan Grisham still remains on Joe Biden's Vice Presidential shortlist. She has been focusing her efforts away from New Mexicans and on campaiging for Biden. While New Mexicans are out of work and our communities are suffering, the governor is hosting fundraisers for the Biden Campaign. It's clear that Gov. Lujan Grisham is more interested in her future political prospects than on the people of New Mexico. Our state deserves a governor who will focus on New Mexicans—not on herself.
