Dear ally,
As millions in the US and around the world join Black-led calls for racial justice, we must grapple with the role of big corporations in fanning the flames of bigotry. Corporate philanthropy giant Fidelity Charitable has allowed funds to flow to local police foundations and organizations espousing racist ideas and practices. In our latest op-ed, the Unmasking Fidelity campaign, launched in 2019, has called upon Fidelity Charitable to stop giving money to such organizations that promote anti-Black, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, and anti-LGBTQIA+ views and practices.
Community Labor United (CLU), along with our partners at Muslim Justice League (MJL), Asian American Resource Workshop ( AARW), Political Research Associates (PRA), and Resource Generation (RG) find it unacceptable that Fidelity directs funding to white supremacist organizations. Fidelity Charitable must follow the leadership of the more than 80 impact-conscious corporations and foundations who have adopted a moral clause to filter out groups involved in organized bigotry.
You too can join our fight! Participate in our teach-in and a campaign refresher on Thursday, August 6 to learn about the roles that corporations, philanthropy, and specifically Donor Advised Funds play in perpetuating cycles of violence.
