We had multiple goals in mind when we set out to redo our website. Besides a fresh look, we wanted to add value for our Association members and stakeholders by providing information and resources they can easily navigate. We hope you take the time to explore all areas of the website and share your thoughts with us.
Check out this quick video from the Association’s CEO Neil Moody for more details on the new website!
CHBA BC/FortisBC
FortisBC new construction incentives are available for your next project. Check out this list below for key requirements to submit with your application to qualify or view as a PDF.
City of Vancouver:
Build a home to Step 3 or higher using natural gas space and water heating and qualify for a home performance rebate, a rebate on your energy advisor evaluation, as well as additional rebates, such as the fireplace, drain water heat recovery system and connected thermostat.
Building Permits:
Must be issued March 29, 2018, or later, otherwise, the projects fall under the previous ENERGY STAR for New Home Program.
Mid-Construction form:
This application form must be completed to receive the Energy Advisor’s $100 support rebate.
Space and water heating:
The home must use a FortisBC energy source. In the majority of cases, this means using natural gas for space and water heating. FortisBC only provides electricity to parts of the Okanagan and Central Kootenays.
Air-source heat pump:
For homes where FortisBC is not the electricity supplier, the energy model must demonstrate that FortisBC energy source is the primary energy source. This is confirmed by submitting secondary modelling.

CHBA via Affordability.ca
As the Association gears up for the 2019 federal election campaign, a new blog post on affordability.ca is encouraging Canadians to share their stories on the website.
As CHBA calls on the next government to adopt policy recommendations that will improve affordability for all, we hope that every federal party will take note of their concerns and work with CHBA to address this important issue.
Vancouver Sun
With the federal election less than two months away, regional and local governments in B.C. are asking parties to commit to spending on infrastructure, transit and housing.
Commentary: If you haven’t already, check out CHBA National’s website for the federal election at affordability.ca. CHBA has also been in touch with all major parties with platform and policy ideas in preparation for the election.
