The United States is the only developed nation without paid sick leave.

COVID-19 cases across the country are continuing to spike. All the while, too many Americans are being asked to choose between their health or their jobs.

For those living paycheck to paycheck, missing work is not an option. So instead, these employees arrive to work sick and possibly contagious because they cannot risk the possibility of not being able to provide for their families.

Nobody should have to choose between making ends meet and staying healthy.

We need to ensure that public health and safety is the nation's top priority. If you are feeling symptomatic or if you've been exposed to COVID-19, it's critical that you have the option to stay home from work — without having to worry about losing your paycheck.

There are still tens of millions of Americans who have no paid sick leave protections, meaning they could miss a paycheck or lose their job if they were to become infected with the coronavirus or any other medical condition.

If we are going to slow the spread of this pandemic and protect the public's health, we must pass a national paid sick leave policy.
