OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Democratic Party mourns the passing of U.S. Congressman John Lewis, legendary activist and civil rights leader who was known for his life-risking actions for justice, humility, and forgiveness.

John Lewis inspired a movement fighting racism and civil injustice. Lewis was a follower and friend of Martin Luther King Jr., participating alongside him in lunch counter sit-ins, joined the Freedom Riders challenging segregation, and was the last living keynote speaker at the historic 1963 March on Washington. OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Democratic Party stands with Oklahoma tribal governments after the recent United States Supreme Court decision in the groundbreaking McGirt v. Oklahoma case, which ruled that, as pertaining to the Major Crimes Act, most of eastern Oklahoma remains tribal reservation lands. The reservations of the Muscogee (Creek), Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Seminole were never disestablished by Congress, and have always been and will remain Native American lands. Read more...

2020 DNC 'CONVENTION ACROSS AMERICA' BEGINING AUGUST 17TH

The 2020 Democratic National Convention will be anchored in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from August 17-20. The Democratic National Convention is the formal event during which delegates of the Democratic Party choose the party’s nominees for president and vice president in the 2020 election. At the convention, the Democratic Party also adopts the official Democratic Party platform as well as the rules and procedures governing party activities, including the nomination process for presidential candidates in the next election cycle.
