After serving in World War II, my grandfather returned to Milwaukee and got a job at A.O. Smith. He walked out over 30 years later with a comfortable retirement that allowed him to continue to support his family and travel with me. That’s not a reality anymore as wealthy out-of-state corporations have shipped jobs overseas.
Today, the Wisconsin I grew up in is unrecognizable. The American dream is simply out of reach for too many of us, and it’s not an accident how this happened.
For years, the Washington way of politics has delivered record profits for billionaires and large corporations… while everyday people can hardly afford their healthcare or groceries.
This is a clear indictment of our economy — career politicians have been catering to their wealthy special interests instead of working families. It’s time we fully fund our schools and cut taxes for the middle class.
Wisconsinites deserve leaders who will fight for a bold future and innovative solutions. Having served as a State Assemblymember and Lieutenant Governor, I’m ready to step up to the plate as governor. But this race is a toss-up, with Republicans closing in on huge dark money checks so they can maintain the status quo – can I count on your support to help us fight back?
