Friend, today and all month I am thinking about the women who built our communities and shaped my life.

I was raised by a mother who taught me the value of hard work, and I see that same strength in the moms, teachers, nurses, and small business owners across South Texas. These women carry families, run schools, and keep our local economy moving every single day.

That is why I fight for affordable healthcare, better schools, and federal funding that helps small businesses grow. As the only Texas Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee, I have worked to deliver results that lift up families and expand opportunity for women and their children.

So today, in honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, I hope you will stand with us to keep defending those gains and building more opportunities for the next generation.
