House Republicans passed legislation this week to ensure the Department of Homeland Security remains fully funded at a time when security threats around the world continue to increase. The legislation now heads to the Senate for consideration. Andrew emphasized that agencies like TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard, and CISA play a critical role in protecting the American people and must have the resources they need to do their jobs. Andrew also released the following statement regarding leadership changes at the Department of Homeland Security: “I thank Secretary Noem for her service to our country. I look forward to continuing this Committee’s important work alongside DHS Secretary nominee Markwayne Mullin, and I call for his swift confirmation. In the meantime, I urge my Democrat colleagues to make the right decision and stop playing dangerous games with DHS funding. As threats from Iran escalate, America must be fully prepared to respond to and mitigate heightened threats to the homeland.” Andrew emphasized that every day Democrats delay funding the government makes America less safe. Watch Andrew's Full Floor Remarks ANDREW IN THE NEWS Andrew joins Martha MacCallum on Fox News to talk DHS Funding This week, Andrew joined Fox News with Martha MacCallum to discuss the importance of fully funding the Department of Homeland Security. Listen Here WHAT'S NEW IN NY-02 Celebrating an Eagle Scout Members of Andrew’s staff were honored to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Evan Casdia this week. Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout represents years of hard work, leadership, and service to the community. Congratulations to Evan and his family on this outstanding accomplishment. Casework Highlight: Passport Delivered in Under 42 Hours Helping constituents navigate federal agencies remains one of Andrew’s top priorities. This week, Andrew’s office helped a constituent receive his passport in less than 42 hours. The constituent had originally applied for a routine 4–6 week service, but accidentally failed to sign his check, which delayed the application. After contacting Andrew’s office on Monday afternoon, staff immediately worked with the Passport Agency to upgrade the request, review the application, approve it, print it, and ship it. The passport arrived less than two days later. Andrew’s office had even scheduled a backup in-person appointment at the New York Passport Agency to ensure the passport would arrive on time, but thankfully it wasn’t needed. Keeping Up with Congress Financial Services Committee Passes Andrew's Bill This week, the Financial Services Committee passed Andrew’s bill, the Small Entrepreneurs Empowerment and Development (SEED) Act, which is designed to help small businesses and startups raise capital and grow. The legislation creates a micro-offering exemption that reduces regulatory burdens and cuts unnecessary red tape that can make it difficult for entrepreneurs to access early-stage funding. By making it easier for startups and small businesses to raise capital, the SEED Act aims to encourage investment and help new businesses turn their ideas into successful ventures. Meeting with Local Tourette syndrome advocates This week, Andrew met with advocates from the Tourette Association of America to discuss their priorities and the work they are doing to support individuals and families affected by Tourette syndrome. As co-chair of the Congressional Tourette Syndrome Caucus, Andrew continues to support efforts to raise awareness and ensure research into Tourette syndrome and related conditions continues to move forward. Andrew appreciates the work these advocates do to support families and help ensure individuals with Tourette syndrome have access to the resources and care they need. Addressing illegal Chinese e-cigarettes Illegal Chinese vapes continue to enter the United States, targeting young people and reaching communities across the country, including areas near military installations. Andrew joined Congressman Mike Carey and several colleagues in urging Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer to take action to curb these illegal imports. The letter raises concerns about the growing presence of these products in the United States and highlights the national security risks posed by products that openly violate U.S. trade and safety laws. Humane Society Legislative Fund reception This week, Andrew attended the Humane Society Legislative Fund’s annual Capitol Hill reception. The event brings together lawmakers, advocates, and supporters who are working to advance responsible animal welfare policies and strengthen protections for animals. It was a great opportunity to hear directly from advocates and discuss ongoing efforts to support humane treatment and responsible animal welfare legislation. Thanks for reading!
